Iron and zinc supplementation had no benefits on the behavior ratings of lead-exposed children when they were given to a group of children in Mexico over a six months period. Journal of Pediatrics

Adolescents who are obese were found to have higher blood pressure and also increase thickening of their carotid artery that takes the blood from the heart to brain. These were noted in a group of 93 obese adolescents and thus may indicate future cardiovascular problems. Journal of Pediatrics

Presece of certain genes in Lupus patients can be associated with risk factors such as stoke and heart attack as was reported in the New England Journal of Medicine. Mannose-binding lectin gene are associated with Lupus as well as with severe atherosclerosis. In this study, author showed that those patients with Lupus who have homozygosity for this gene are at increased risk of developing arterial blockage such as stroke and heart attack.
